The government fully believes in freedom of the press and takes optimal measures to promote journalism: Marriyum

ISLAMABAD: Information and Broadcasting Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Friday that optimal measures for the promotion of journalism in the country have been taken, as the current coalition authorities fully believe in freedom of the press .

In a meeting with a delegation from the Murree Press Club, she mentioned that restrictions had been imposed on the media by previous authorities. She mentioned that it was “the darkest time for the media” as journalists’ voices were silenced and their demands for suspension were cut short by the previous regime.

During the assembly, the importance of Murree from the point of view of tourism, Murree Press Club and various necessary points, were mentioned in the assembly.

She mentioned, “Murree is a well-known hill station in the country where millions of tourists come for sightseeing.” The Minister mentioned that local journalists, using pen and digital camera, are successfully highlighting the tourist significance of the nation, especially Murree.

She assured that immediate work could be started for the accreditation of the Murree Press Club and mentioned that the government would take special measures to render certain services to local journalists. The media delegation identified that around three thousand businessmen from Murree have always been given comprehensive alternatives and enabling environment by the respective Muslim League (N) governments over time.

They also appreciated that the PML-N, in their respective mandates, took sensible steps to sell tourism to Murree.

The Murree Press Club delegation thanked Marriyum Aurangzeb for listening to their points and resolving their issues.

Marriyum mourns the passing of Daily Express CEO’s mother

On Friday, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb, expressed his deep sorrow and sadness over the death of the mother of Daily Express CEO, Ijazul Haq.

In her message of condolence, the Minister mentioned that she shared the grief of Ijazul Haq and his family.

She prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the soul of the deceased in eternal peace and to grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss courageously.
