âToday is the 20th anniversary of September 11th. The tragedy of the bombing, the heroism of the first responders, the unity of the American people, we will never forget.
But as we all know, this September 11 comes after a disastrous withdrawal from Kabul.
To the patriots, who did justice to those who plotted and carried out the attacks, and who protected us from other attacks, to their families who supported these soldiers, men and women, and those of the clandestine services, we humbly thank you .
Before deployment, during and after, you endured the uncertainty and, in some cases, the tragedy of the consequences of war. There are children who have never met their father. There are those whose parents survive with injuries that change their relationship forever. We will support you.
America hasn’t seen another 9/11 because of you.
I know the recent events in Afghanistan have left a lot of people angry. These decisions do not diminish the nobility of your actions. There are lasting benefits for our country, the Afghan people and the cause of freedom.
There will never be a war to end all wars. But there was a war that eliminated the threat of planes crashing into buildings here in the United States. You fought him. You won it. We will never forget.”
