News wire and press release / The theme of the BASF Automotive Color Trends 2021-2022 collection – Manufacturing / Robotics – BASF
⢠BASF releases an unlimited design vocabulary;
⢠The simultaneity instead of linearity collection shows a new diversity of colors;
⢠Taking into account the growing need for durability and functionality.
Borrowing a phenomenon from quantum mechanics, this year’s collection is called SUPERPOSITION, which is a state where the limitation of binary systems is overcome.
In other words, things aren’t just black or white, heads or tails, one or zero. The world has countless variations, and this collection delves into those variations. Colors benefit from an unlimited design vocabulary, which can be both playful and serious, comfortable and disturbing, or clear and chaotic at the same time.
EMEA Revealing and stimulating colors
Colors designed for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) use familiar color positions, but alter them using new effects, subtle color gradients, or vivid behavior specific. Shades of gray change color depending on the viewing angle. The shades of blue are clear, reflective and structure the surface.
âThese revealing and uplifting colors are a layering of intricate tones that challenge our perception,â said Mark Gutjahr, automotive color design manager, EMEA.
Asia-Pacific Recharge and anticipate
Asia-Pacific has seen societal change as its biggest trend for 2021. Many have used the time they have to recharge their batteries, think about the future, and build energy for the future.
From a uniformity in the thoughts, products and materials of the past, flexibility and freedom were born. Everyone and everything must be accepted not only people, but also products and materials. Everything can be flexible.
âThe key colors of Asia-Pacific are clear, crisp shades evoking the exciting look of spring and the forward-looking hope it brings,â said Chiharu Matsuhara, automotive design manager for the Asia Pacific. âThey show a higher level of understanding of our diverse world. “
North America The concept of balance
Future color designs in North America turned to the concept of balance which strikes a chord with human firmness. Color spaces are rooted in optimism and resilience, and show humanity’s potential to move forward despite challenges.
âWe have found the balance between the natural world and the synthetic world to create soothing, steadfast and uplifting colors. They draw the viewer into unique sensations that operate on multiple non-binary levels, âsaid Paul Czornij, Automotive Design Manager for the Americas.
